HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?
Couples often book my Kamloops wedding photography services six to twelve months in advance of their wedding, especially for popular dates such as summer and long weekends. However, I accept bookings year-round.
DO YOU PROVIDE CUSTOMIZED WEDDING PACKAGES?
Absolutely! Not all weddings will fit one of my photography packages… elopements and other small / micro weddings, vow renewals, and destination weddings are best done with a customized package. Contact me and we’ll plan something perfect. Hint: Non-Saturday weddings cost less!
HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH PER YEAR?
I accept less than 10 wedding photography bookings per year in Kamloops and beyond. This limit is set to ensure that I am able to offer premium services and products to you, and serve my other clients with the same dedication. From your first inquiry email to the delivery of your products, I will be with you every step of the way. I am a full-time photographer, so you can expect quick replies to your emails, professional in-person guidance when needed, and detailed coverage of your wedding. Regardless of the cost of your package, every client is treated to a high-end wedding photography experience.
HAVE YOU PHOTOGRAPHED WEDDINGS AT OUR VENUE BEFORE?
I have photographed at many Kamloops area venues before, including Monte Creek Winery, the South Thompson Inn, the Dunes in Westsyde, Rainbow’s Roost, Quaaout Lodge / Talking Rock Golf Resort, St. Andrew’s Square, the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre, Riverside Park, Mac Island Park, the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall, and Wells Grey Provincial Park in Clearwater. If I have not worked at your venue before, I will do scouting beforehand to locate the best spots for photos.
DO YOU USE AN ASSISTANT PHOTOGRAPHER?
Depending on the size and intricity of the wedding, I will sometimes employ an assistant photographer. The assistant photographer helps organize large groups and shoots from different angles. Most of the time, I prefer to work by myself, as I am very efficient and produce a wealth of images to choose from.
HOW MUCH IS THE RETAINER TO SECURE OUR DATE?
The retainer is $750, due when you sign your contract. $1000 is due within three months of the wedding date, with the remaining balance due on or before the wedding date. Please get in touch about creating a custom payment plan that will allow you to balance finances and your favourite photo package.
WHAT IS A WEDDING REVEAL OR FIRST LOOK?
This is when you see your partner before the ceremony, a sweet moment that is wonderful to have photographed. There are two advantages to this non-traditional approach. First, you can appreciate each other one-on-one instead of seeing each other for the first time in front of all your guests. Seeing each other beforehand helps lessen wedding day nerves. Secondly, in a traditional wedding, there is a gap for photos between the ceremony and reception, often 2-3 hours, which the guests must fill. With a reveal, you can take your couple and bridal party photos in advance, and you are free to go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and reception, to maximize time spent with your guests. Couples who have done a reveal have said that they didn’t feel the ceremony experience was any less meaningful for having seen their partner beforehand — nothing can diminish the excitement of the bride walking down the aisle!
WHAT IF IT RAINS OR THERE IS POOR WEATHER ON OUR WEDDING DAY?
We all hope for a nice sunny day for the wedding, but don’t worry if it is overcast, raining, or otherwise inclement on your big day. I’ve produced beautiful photos in all kinds of weather. Overcast conditions actually produce the most even light, so can be a blessing in disguise. If it’s raining, we will find shelter under trees, on the edge of buildings, or with umbrellas. It’s rare that it rains the entire day, so we will take advantage of any breaks in the weather and work efficiently. Plus, my camera gear is fully weather-sealed and can be used in the rain (ask me about the time my camera was fully submerged in a water tank and still worked!).
WHEN WILL WE GET TO SEE OUR WEDDING PHOTOS?
I guarantee your photos will be ready for you to view within 30 days of your wedding. I offer an in-person or virtual image reveal, when you will see your images for the first time, and choose which ones you would like to use for your included products, such as your album or thank you cards. This is also your opportunity to choose additional wall art with professional guidance. If you have chosen the digital image option to make your own prints and products, your edited high-resolution images will be delivered within 60 days of your wedding (your viewing galleries will still be online within 30 days).
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE GET?
The short answer is 50-75 final images per hour of professional photography. This range exists because there are parts of the day where I produce lots of images in a row, and parts of the day that take more time to set up poses/arrangements, and so produce less images. Here are some average totals for the 3, 7, and 9 hour packages I offer:
3 hours – minimum 200 images
7 hours – minimum 500 images
9 hours – minimum 600 images
DO WE GET ALL OF OUR FINAL DIGITAL IMAGES?
Yes, I have an all-digital wedding photography option or if you choose a package, high resolution digitals also included in addition to an album or wallart. Do-it-yourself couples who have the time to design and print their own photos may prefer the digital-only route. However, while many couples have every intention of printing their photos, they often don’t get around to it for months or even years after their wedding! This is the advantage of having me design your album and prints — you will get high-quality products with your best photos, just weeks after selection.
CAN OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS ORDER PHOTOS FROM OUR ONLINE GALLERY?
Yes, your guests can set up their own account on the online gallery to order any prints or products they wish to have. Your galleries will stay online for a minimum of one year after the wedding.
