HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD WE BOOK YOU?
Couples often book my wedding photography services six to twelve months in advance of their wedding, especially for popular dates such as long weekends, but I accept bookings year-round. The risk in waiting is that your date may already be booked, so don’t delay in reaching out!
HOW MANY WEDDINGS DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH PER YEAR?
I only accept five wedding photography bookings per year in Kamloops and area (and 1-2 out of province or out of country). This limit is set to ensure that I am able to offer premium services and products to you. From your first inquiry email to the delivery of your products, I will be with you every step of the way. I am a full time photographer, so you can expect quick replies to your emails, professional in-person guidance when needed and detailed coverage of your wedding. Regardless of the cost of your package, every client is treated to a high-end wedding photography experience.
HAVE YOU PHOTOGRAPHED AT OUR VENUE BEFORE?
I have photographed at many Kamloops area venues before, including the Quaaout Lodge / Talking Rock Golf Resort, the South Thompson Inn, the Dunes in Westsyde, Rainbow’s Roost, Monte Creek Winery, St. Andrew’s Square, the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre, Riverside Park, Mac Island Park, the North Thompson Fall Fair Hall, and Wells Grey Provincial Park in Clearwater. If I have not worked at your venue before, I will do scouting beforehand to locate the best spots for photos.
DO YOU USE AN ASSISTANT PHOTOGRAPHER?
Depending on the size and intricity of the wedding, I will sometimes employ an assistant photographer for the ceremony and portraits. The assistant photographer helps organize large groups, shoots from different angles, and seeks out candid shots while I am doing posed shots. Most of the time, I prefer to work by myself, as I am an efficient and experienced photographer, so am well-prepared for many situations.
HOW MUCH IS THE RETAINER TO SECURE OUR DATE, AND WHAT ARE THE TERMS FOR THE BALANCE?
The retainer is $500, due when you sign your contract. 50% of the package total is due within three months of the wedding date, with the remaining balance due on or before the wedding date. Please get in touch about creating a custom payment plan that will allow you to balance finances and your favourite photo package.
DO YOU PROVIDE CUSTOMIZED PACKAGES?
Of course! Not all weddings will fit one of my photography packages… elopements and other small weddings, vow renewals, and destination weddings are best done with a customized package. Contact me and we’ll plan something perfect. Hint: Non-Saturday weddings cost less!
WHAT IS A REVEAL OR FIRST LOOK?
This is when you see your partner before the ceremony, a sweet moment that is wonderful to have photographed. There are two advantages to this non-traditional approach. First, you can appreciate each other one on one instead of seeing each other for the first time in front of all your guests. Seeing each other beforehand helps lessen wedding day nerves. Secondly, in a traditional wedding, there is a gap for photos between the ceremony and reception, often 2-3 hours, which the guests must fill. With a reveal, you can take your couple and bridal party photo in advance, and you are free to go straight from the ceremony to the cocktail hour and reception, to maximize time spent with your guests. Couples who have done a reveal have said that they didn’t feel the ceremony experience was any less meaningful for having seen their partner beforehand — nothing can diminish the excitement of the bride walking down the aisle!
WHEN WILL WE GET TO SEE OUR PHOTOS?
I guarantee your galleries will be online for you to view within 30 days. Shortly afterward, I will be available to call or meet with you to make artistic decisions regarding the products included in your package. This might include choosing the images for your album or designing your thank you cards. If you have chosen the digital image option to make your own prints and products, your edited high resolution images will be delivered within 60 days of your wedding (your viewing galleries will still be online within 30 days).
HOW MANY PHOTOS WILL WE GET?
The short answer is 50-75 final images per hour of professional photography. This range exists because there are parts of the day where I produce lots of images in a row, and parts of the day that take more time to set up poses/arrangements, and so produce less images. Here are some average totals for the 3, 7, and 9 hour packages I offer:
3 hours – minimum 200 images
7 hours – minimum 400 images
9 hours – minimum 500 images
DO WE GET ALL OF OUR FINAL DIGITAL IMAGES ON A USB? WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES/DISADVANTAGES?
Yes, you can choose this as your “Main Course” package option (the other option is a custom-designed luxury album). Do-it-yourself couples who would like to design their own album or make many prints often prefer the digital-only route. However, some couples have told me afterward that while they had every intention of printing their photos, they did not get around to it for months or even years after their wedding! This is the advantage of having me design your album — you will get a high-end album with your best photos within 4-6 weeks from the time you select your favourites.
CAN OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS ORDER PHOTOS FROM OUR GALLERY?
Yes, your guests can set up their own account on the gallery to order any prints or products they wish to have. Your galleries will stay online for a minimum of one year after the wedding.
CAN I HIRE YOU TO SHOOT MY DESTINATION WEDDING?
I love to travel and am experienced in destination weddings, so the answer to your question is a resounding “Yes!”. Regular package prices plus travel expenses apply. If you are getting married at a resort, just check with the wedding planner to be sure they don’t require you to use their photographer.
